    ١٤٧ - أبو عبد الله السِمْناني أبو عبد الله الحسين بن محمد بن الحسين بن علي بن الفرخان الصوفي السمناني من أهل سمنان. كان شيخ الصوفية، وممن رحل إلى خراسان، وأدرك الشيوخ وعمر العمر الطويل بسمنان، حتى سمع منه أهل بلده والرحالة. سمع أبا القاسم عبد الكريم القشيري، وأبا الحسن عبد الرحمن بن محمد الداودي الفوشنجي بها، وأبا القاسم عبد الله بن علي بن عبد الله الكركاني الطوسي بها، وأبا سهل محمد بن أحمد بن عبيد الله الحفصي بنيسابور، ولما دخلت سمنان، كنت حريصاً على السماع منه، وكان قد مات قبل دخولي إياها بشهر وكان دخولي في شهر ربيع الأول، وكان قد توفي هو في صفر سنة إحدى وثلاثين وخمسمئة بسمنان
