١٣٩٨ - عبد الرحمن بن عبد العزيز بن عبد الله بن عثمان بن حنيف بن واهب بن الحكيم بن ثعلبة بن الحارث بن مجدعة بن عمرو. وهو بحرج بن حنش بن عوف بن عمرو بن عوف من الأوس. وأمه مندوس بنت حكيم بن عباد بن حنيف. وكان عبد الرحمن يكنى أبا محمد. وهو الذي يقال له: الحنيفي وكان ذاهب البصر وكان عالما بالسيرة وغيرها وكان كثير الحديث. مات سنة اثنتين وستين ومائة وهو يومئذ ابن بضع وسبعين سنة.
