    أبو حاتم المزني حجازي مختلف في صحبته. روى عن: النبي ﵌: إذا جاءكم من ترضون دينه فأنكحوه. وعنه: سعيد، ومحمد ابنا عبيد. قال ابن أبي حاتم: سمعت أبا زرعة يقول: لا أعلم لأبي حاتم غير هذا الحديث، ولا أعرف له صحبة. وقال الترمذي: له صحبة، ولا يعرف له غير هذا الحديث. وأورد أبو داود حديثه في المراسيل. قلت: سماه ابن قانع عقيل بن مقرن. وجزم ابن القطان بأن لا صحبة له وجماعة، وأثبت صحبته ابن حبان، وابن السكن.
