    ٤٨٣٠ - الوليد بن عتبة الأشجعي، أبو العباس الدمشقي. * قال يعقوب بن سفيان: حدثني الوليد بن عتبة الدمشقي وكان ممن قهر نفسه. "المعرفة والتاريخ" ٢/ ٧٨٦.* وقال أبو زرعة الدمشقي: قلت لأبي سعيد، يعني عبد الرحمن بن إبراهيم دحيم: فأيُّ الثلاثة من أصحاب الوليد أحبُّ إليك: وليد بن عتبة، أو صفوان بن صالح، أو العباس المكتب؟ فقال: وليد أكيسهم، وأقدمهم طلبًا، وقد كان يحضر صغيرًا.
