ليث بن عاصم بن العلاء بن مغيث بن الحارث بن عامر الخولاني، ثم الحدادي، أبو الحسن المصري إمام الجامع بمصر.روى عن: الحسن بن ثوبان. وعنه: إدريس بن يحيى الخولاني، وعبد الرحمن بن أبي السمح، وعبد الله بن وهب. وذكره ابن حبان في الثقات. وقال ابن يونس: توفي في صفر سنة (١٨٢). قال: وهو أخو أبي وهب بن العلاء بن عاصم. وقال غيره: كان مولده سنة (١٣٠).
