عثمان بن شماس مولى عباس، ويقال: عثمان بن جحاش ابن أخي سمرة. روى عن: أبيه، وأبي هريرة. وعنه: ابنه موسى، والجلاس، ويقال: أبو الجلاس، وبكار بن سقير. وقال عباس الدوري: سمعت يحيى، وأحمد يقولان: حديث الجلاس، عن عثمان بن شماس، كذا قال شعبة، وقال عبد الوارث - والقول قوله -: ابن جحاش. روى له النسائي، وفي إسناد حديثه اختلاف. قلت: فرق البخاري، وأبو حاتم بين عثمان بن شماس مولى عباس الذي يروي عنه: ابنه موسى، وبين عثمان بن جحاش الفزاري ابن أخي سمرة بن جندب الذي روى عنه: أبو الجلاس عقبة بن سيار، وكذا ذكرهما ابن حبان في الثقات. •
