زهير بن عثمان الأعور الثقفي. عداده في الصحابة الذين نزلوا البصرة. روى حديثه الحسن البصري عن عبد الله بن عثمان الثقفي، عن رجل أعور من ثقيف كان يقال له: معروف، أي يثني عليه خيرا - إن لم يكن زهير بن عثمان فلا أدري ما اسمه - في الوليمة. قال البخاري: لم يصح إسناده، ولا نعرف له صحبة. قلت: وقد أثبت صحبته ابن أبي خيثمة، وأبو حاتم الرازي، وأبو حاتم ابن حبان، والترمذي، والأزدي - وقال: تفرد عنه بالرواية عبد الله بن عثمان - وغيرهم. • م س -
