٥٩٤٦ - بخ ٤: عمرو بن عبد الله بن صفوان بن أمية بن خلف الجمحي المكي. روى عن: كلدة بن الحنبل، ويزيد بن شيبان، وعبد الله بن السائب المخزومي، ومحمد بن الأسود بن خلف. روى عنه: عمرو بن دينار، وعمرو ومحمد ابنا أبي سفيان الجمحي، والحكم بن جميع السدوسي قال الزبير عن بعض أصحابه: توالى خمسة في الشرف فذكر جماعة عمرو فيهم وذكره ابن حبان (¬٦) في الثقاث. قلت: وقال ابن سعد (¬٧) كان قليل الحديث وقال الزبير فيه يقول الفرزدق: تمشي تبختر حول البيت منتحيًا … لو كنت عمرو بن عبد الله لم تزد قال وكان له رقيق يتجرون فكان ذلك يعينه على مكارمه.
