١٥٩٤ - د: الحسين بن معاذ بن خليف (¬٣) البصري. روى عن: عبد الأعلى بن عبد الأعلى، وابن أبي عدي، وسلام بن أبي خبرة، وعثمان بن عمر. وعنه: أبو داود، وبقي بن مخلد، والمعمري، والحسن بن سفيان، وابن ناجية. قال الآجري، عن أبي داود: كان ثبتًا في عبد الأعلى، وذكره ابن حبان (¬٤) في الثقات. قلت: ضبط المزي (¬٥) جده بالخاء المعجمة، وكذا رأيناه نحن بخط الصدر البكري، ونقل عبد الغني، عن خط السلفي: أنه بالمهملة. وكذا قال ابن نقطة (¬٦). والله أعلم بالصواب، ووثقه مسلمة الأندلسي أيضًا.
