    [٥٩٢٧] (خ د س ق) كَثير بن كَثير بن المُطَّلب بن أبي وَدَاعة بن صُبيرة بن سُعَيد (¬٣) بن سعْد بن سَهم القُرشيّ، السَّهمِيّ، المكِّيّ (¬٤). روى عن: أبيه، وسعيد بن جُبير، وعلي بن عبد الله البَارِقي، وغيرهم. وعنه: ابن جُريج، ومَعْمَر، وهشام بن حسَّان وإبراهيم بن نافع، وسالم الخيَّاط، وابن عيينة. قال ابن سعد: كان شاعرًا، قليلَ الحديثِ (¬٥). وقال أحمد، وابن معين: ثقةٌ (¬٦). وقال النَّسائيّ: لا بأسَ به. وذكره ابن حبان في "الثقات" (¬٧).
