كثير بن محمد بن عَبد الله بن عبَّادة بن قيس بن صبيح أبو أنس التميمي. وقيل: الحزامى، قدم بغداد. حدَّث بها عن: سعيد بن عَمرو الأشعثي، وإبراهيم بن إسحاق الضبي، وعَبد الرّحمن بن المفضل الغنوي. روى عنه: محمد بن مخلد، وأبو القاسم عَبد الله بن محمد بن إسحاق المروزي المعروف بحامض رأسه، وأبو العبَّاس بن عقدة، وغيرهم.
