    ٥٨٥ - سليمان بن سيف * (س) الحافظُ الثِّقة، أبو داود الحَرَّاني، محدِّث حرّان.سمع: يزيدَ بنَ هارون، وجعفرَ بنَ عَوْن، وعبد اللَّه بنَ بكر السهمي، ووهب بن جَرير، والطّبقة. وعنه: النَّسائي -ووثقه- وأبو عَروبة، وأبو عَوَانة، وأبو نعيم الجُرجاني، ومحمدُ بنُ المسيَّب الأرْغياني، وأبو علي محمد بنُ سعيد الحافظ، وخلائق. مات في شعبان سنةَ اثنتين وسبعين ومئتين. قاله ابن عقدة.
