الحسن بن المثنى بن معاذ بن معاذ العنبري أبو محمد. أخو معاذ. سمع: عفان، وأبا حُذيْفة النهدي، وعدة. وعنه: الطَّبراني، ويوسف البختري، وجماعة. قال الذَّهبي: من نبلاء الثقات .. وكان روعًا عابدًا، يمتنع من الرّواية، ثم أمر في النوم بالرّواية. وقال: مات في رجب سنة أربع وتسعين وولد سنة مئتين.
