    أحمد بن الأسود بن الهيثم الحنفي أبو علي البصري. روى عن: سعيد بن سلام العطار، وفهر بن حيان. وعنه: أبو عروبة الحراني، وأبو العبَّاس إبراهيم بن محمد بن الحارث، وأبو زرعة محمد بن نفيس المصيصي. وذكره ابن حبَّان في "الثقات"، وقال: كان على القضاء. وقال القشيري: كان يتولى القضاء بناحية قرقيسيا، ومات بها، وكنيته أبو علي البصري، مات سنة ٢٧٥. وقال الذَّهبي: قاضي قرقيسيا. "تاريخ الإسلام" وفيات (٢٥١ - ص: ٣٦)، "الثقات" (٨/ ٤٦)، "تاريخ الرقة" (ص: ١٨١). *
