    بابٌ في ذِكْرِ صِفِّيْن (¬١) وبقُعَتها، وحُكْم مَنْ شَهِدَها من الجانبَيْن، وَوَقْعتها ويُقالُ فيها: صفُّونَ وصفِّيْن. وهي من أعْمَال حَلَب وجُنْد قِنَّسْرِيْن، وقد قال بعضُ أَصْحَاب عليِّ ﵇، وقد رَأى شِدَّهَ القِتَال بها، فأتَى أهْلَهُ (¬٢): [من الرجز] إنَّ أباكِ فَرَّ يومَ صِفِّيْنْ … لَمَّا رأى عَكَّا والأَشعريِّينْ والخَمْسُ قد أَجشَمنْك (a) الأَمَرَّينْ … جَمْزًا إلى الكُوفَة من قِنَّسْرِيْنْ وحَابسًا (b) يَسَتَنُّ في الطَّائِيِّينْ … وقَيْسَ عَيْلَانَ الهَوَازِنيِّينْ لا خَمْسَ إلَّا جَنْدَلُ الأحَرِّينْ والكلام في صِفِّيْن يَقَعُ في فُصُول:
