    ٤٠٣ - علي (¬١) بن محمد التنوخي من أصحاب أبي الحسن الكرخي، وتولى الحكم فهجره أبو الحسن على عادته، وقطع مكاتبته. وكان يدخل إلى بغداد، فلا يمكنه الدخول عليه، فإذا سئل عنه يقول: كان معاشري على الفقر والفاقة، وبلغني الأن أنه ينفق على مائدته كل يوم دينارين، وما علمته ورث ميراثا، ولا اتجر، فربح وما أعرف لهذه النفقة وجها.
