    ٢٨٣٨- زهير بن العجوة الهدلي: «٣» قتل يوم حنين مسلما، استدركه الأشيريّ، وقد ذكره أبو عمر في ترجمة أخيه أبي خراش، فقال: كان جميل بن معمر قتل زهيرا يوم الفتح مسلما. حكاه المبرد، وقال: وكان جميل يومئذ كافرا ثم أسلم. وقال أبو عبيدة: أسر زهير بن العجوة الهذلي يوم حنين، وكتّف، فرآه جميل بن معمر، فقال: أنت الماشي لنا بالمعايب، فقتله. وقال أبو خراش يرثيه ... فذكر المرثية، ويقال: إن العجوة لقب زهير نفسه.
