[٧٢٨] محمَّد [بن طاهر] (¬٣) بن علي [الأصبهاني] (¬٤)، أبو يعلى. قال الحاكم: نزيل نيسابور، كان يحفظ سؤالات الشيوخ، ويعرف رسم التحديث، وكان كثير السّماع والرحلة، سمع بأصبهان الوليد بن أبان فمن بعده، وبالعراق أبا القاسم بن منيع وطبقته، وبالشام أحمد بن عمير الدمشقي وأقرانه، وبالجزيرة أبا عروبة وأقرانه، ومرض بنيسابور فتشوش، فربما كان مصابًا، وربما كان له عقل، وما رأيته يزول حفظه في أحواله كلها. أخبرني أبو العباس المصري أنه توفي في غرة ذي الحجة سنة تسع وخمسين وثلاثمائة، وكنت أنا ببخارى.
