[٧٢١] [محمد بن سفيان بن محمَّد بن محمود، أبو الحسن الأديب الكاتب الكلماتي]. قال الحاكم: أبو الحسن بن سفيان الجوهري، كان يناظر في الفقهوالكلام، وهو أحد من امتُحِن في أمر أبي أحمد الذهلي، وفارق نيسابور سنة أربعين وثلاثمائة، وأقام ببخارى سنين، ثم وقع إلى الجوزجانان، واتصل بأولئك السلاطين. وتوفي بها، قبل الخمسين، وسماعاته من أبي بكر محمَّد بن إسحاق، وأبي العباس محمَّد بن إسحاق الثقفي، وأقرانهما، كثيرة.
