[٥٤٨] كثير بن أحمد الوزير، أبو منصور العميد القايني، تولّى نيسابور نيّفًا وثلاثين سنة، ومات بها فحُمِل إلى قاين.قال الحاكم: العميد على الصحة والحقيقة، تصرّف في أعمال نيسابور عن السلطان نيّفًا وثلاثين سنة، فما سخط عليه سلطانه ولا رعاياه، ومدحه البديهي (¬١) بأبيات منها: وإني على طول النوى وتفرّدي … كثير بتأميلي كثير بن أحمد إذا ما انتضى في الخطب سيف عزيمة … كفى صاحب الجيش انتصاب المهند توفي سنة إحدى وثمانين وثلاثمائة.
