[١١٤] أحمد بن محمد بن إسماعيل البغدادي، أبو الحسن (¬٢) الخلَّال. قال الحاكم: كان حسن الفهم لو صبر على الحديث، فإنه كان يتصوَّف ويرمي بالحديث مدة، ثم يرجع فيكتب، ولقد أخبرني أنه رمى بجملة من سماعاته القديمة في دجلة، وأول ما سمع بعد الثلاثين. ورد نيسابور على أبي العباس الأصم وطبقته وكتب الكثير، ثم انصرف إلى بغداد، وورد نيسابور ثانيًا وأقام بها سنة خمس؛ وست وخمسين، وانصرف إلى العراق وتوفي قرب ذلك.
