    صفي الدين القرافي محمود بن محمد بن حامد بن ابي بكر، الشيخ الإمام العالم المحدث المتقن المفيد صفي الدين القرافي الصوفي أخو الشيخ المعمر شهاب الدين الصوفي؛ ولد سنة سبع وأربعين وستمائة، وتوفي سنة ثلاث وعشرين وسبعمائة. قرأ مسند الإمام أحمد على أبي الغنائم بن علان، وكتب العالي والنازل، وكان فصيح العبارة عذب القراءة، ديناً صيناً؛ حصل له لما تكهل يبس وسوداء، فاستوحش ولازم الوحدة، وبقي يحدث نفسه ولكنه جمع ونسخ وتعب، وخلط " صحاح " الجوهري والأزهري و " المحكم " في ديوان واحد، ووقف كتبه بالخانقاه الشميصاتية، وبها توفي رحمه الله تعالى.٥١١ - (١) "
