(٣١٨) قيس (¬١) بن مخلّد بن ثعلبة بن صخر بن حبيب (¬٢) بن الحارث بن ثعلبة بن مازن (¬٣) بن النّجّار (¬٤). وأمه: الغيطلة بنت مالك بن صرمة بن مالك بن عدي بن عامر بن غنم بن عدي بن النّجّار. وكان لقيس بن مخلد، من الولد: -ثعلبة. وأمه: زغيبة بنت أوس بن خالد بن الجعد بن عوف بن مبذول بن عمرو بن غنم بن مازن بن النّجّار، وأخوه لأمه: أبو بشير قيس الأكبر، ونائلة، ابنا: عبيد بن الحرير بن عمرو بن الجعد بن عوف بن مبذول. شهد قيس بن مخلد: بدرا، وأحدا، وقتل يومئذ شهيدا (¬٥)، في شوال على رأس اثنين وثلاثين شهرا من الهجرة، وليس له عقب. وقد انقرض أيضا ولد: حبيب بن الحارث بن ثعلبة بن مازن، فلم يبق منهم أحد.
