(١٧٣) عدي (¬١) بن أبي الزّغباء سنان (¬٢) بن سبيع بن ثعلبة بن ربيعة بن زهرة بن بديل (¬٣) بن سعد بن عدي بن نصر بن كاهل (¬٤) بن مالك بن غطفان، أخي: رشدان، ابني: حليف: بني عائذ بن ثعلبة بن غنم بن مالك بن النّجّار. بعثه رسول الله ﷺ مع بسبس بن عمرو،-من بني رشدان، وكان اسمه: غيّاث، فسماه رسول الله ﷺ: رشدان بن قيس بن جهينة، حليف: بني ساعدة-طليعة يتحسسان خبر العير، فوردا بدرا، فوجدا العير قد مرت وفاتتهما!، فرجعا فأخبرا [١٤٩/ب] النبي ﷺ. شهد عدي: بدرا، وأحدا، والخندق، وسائر المشاهد مع رسول الله ﷺ. وتوفي في خلافة عمر بن الخطاب ﵁.
