    شُقَيْر (١٢٨٥ - ١٣٥٣ هـ = ١٨٦٨ - ١٩٣٤ م) سعيد شقير (باشا) : متأدب لبناني. تعلم في الجامعة الأميركية ببيروت، ودرَّس فيها ثلاث سنوات ووضع لطلابها كتاب (طيب العرف في علم الصرف - ط) عاونه فيه يوسف أفتيموس. وكتب (التقدم الذاتي - ط) في طريقة جميعة عرفت في أميركا باسم (الشتكدية) غايتها تعليم الناس بعضهم بعضا. وانتقل إلى مصر عام ١٨٨٩ فشارك في تحرير جريدة المقطم مدة. وعينه الإنكليز في بعض الوظائف إلى أن كان مديرا عاما لحسابات حكومة السودان (٢) .

    آل شقير في حوطة سدير من بني العنبر من بني عمرو بن تميم. قال ابن عيسى وابن بشر (¬٢): وفي سنة (١١٠٧ هـ) غدر آل عبهول أهل حوطة سدير في آل شقير وأجلو آل شقير عنها، وتولى في البلد هدلان القعيساء وإخوانه، وقال ابن بشر أيضًا: في سنة (١١١١ هـ) أقبل آل أشيقر أهل حوطة سدير من بلدة العيينة قاصدين سدير فقتلهم أهل العودة. وأورد ابن عيسى الخبر بهذا النص أقبل محمد وناصر آل شقير من رؤساء حوطة سدير فاعترضهم أهل العودة في سدير وقتلوهم (¬٣).
