    ٧٨٨٩- مرثد بن زيد الغطفانيّ: ذكره ابن فتحون في ذيل الاستيعاب، ونقل عن مقاتل بن حيان أنه الّذي نزل فيه: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوالَ الْيَتامى ظُلْماً ... [النساء: ١٠] الآية، لأنه كان ولي مال ابن أخيه فأكله. قلت: وذكره الواقديّ عن مقاتل المذكور، ولفظه: نزلت في رجل من غطفان يقال له مرثد بن زيد، ولي مال ابن أخيه، وهو يتيم صغير ... الحديث.
