أشرس السُّلَمي هو أشرس بن عبد الله السُّلَمي، أميرٌ من الفضلاء كانوا يسمونه: "الكامل" لفضله، ولَّاه هشام بن عبد الملك إمارة خراسان سنة ١٠٩ هـ فَقَدِمَهَا، وسُرَّ به النّاس، واستمر إلى سنة ١١٢ هـ، وفي تلك السنة غزا المسلمون مدينة فرغانة وعليهم أشرس بن عبد الله السُّلَمي، فالتقاهم الترك وأحاطوا بالمسلمين، وبلغ الخبرُ هشامَ بن عبد الملك، فبادر إلى تولية جنيد بن عبد الرَّحمن المريّ على بلاد ما وراء النهر، ليحفظ ذلك الثغر. توفي أشرس سنة ١١٢ هـ - ٧٣٠ م (¬١) أي في سنة غزوه لفرغانة وربما كان سبب وفاته اغتمامه من الإخفاق الذي مني به في هذه الغزوة وعزله من الإمارة على إثر ذلك.
