حفص بن عبد الله السلَمي قال ابن عميرة عنه: انه سرقسطي، روى عن مالك بن أنس، ومات بالأندلس قريبًا من سنة ٢٠٠ هـ (¬٢). وكان حفص بليغًا حافظًا، ولازم مالكًا سبعة أعوام، وكان مالك يُدْني منزله، وصام أربعين سنة. وكان الحكم (الأموي) يستقدمه في كل عام من شهر رمضان يؤمَّ به (¬٣).
