[١٢٧٨] يحيى بن سعيد بن فروخ القطان مولى بنى تميم كنيته أبو سعيد وكان من سادات أهل البصرة وقرائهم ممن مهد لاهل الحديث طرق الاخبار وحثهم على تتبع العلل للآثار وعنه تعلم رسم الحديث أحمد بن حنبل ويحيى بن معين وعلى بن المديني وإسحاق بن إبراهيم وأبو خيثمة وسائر أئمتنا مات ﵀ يوم الاحد الثاني من صفر سنة ثمان وتسعين ومائة وصلى عليه إسماعيل بن جعفر بن على بن عبد الله بن عباس وكان يختم القرآن في كل يوم وليلة ويدعو لالف إنسان من أهل العلم واخوانه ثم يخرج بعد العصر فيحدث الناس
