[١١٨١] سفيان بن عيينة بن أبى عمران الهلالي أبو محمد وهم اخوة خمسة سفيان ومحمد وآدم وعمران وإبراهيم بنو عيينة حمل عن خمستهم العلم عدادهم جميعا في أهل مكه ومولدهم كلهم بالكوفة انتقل سفيان إلى مكة وكان مولده سنة سبع ومائة ليلة النصف منشعبان وجالس الزهري وهو بن ست عشرة سنة وشهرين ونصف مات بمكة يوم السبت آخر يوم من جمادى الآخرة سنة ثمان وتسعين ومائة وحج نيفا وسبعين حجة واسم أبى عمران جده ميمون وكان سفيان ﵀ من الحفاظ المتقنين وأهل الورع في الدين ممن عنى بعلم كتاب الله وكثرة تلاوته له وسهره فيه عنى بعلم السنن وواظب على جمعها والتفقه فيها إلى أن ماتذكر مشاهير أتباع التابعين بالبصرة
