ومن «المغازي -أيضاً- في «باب غزوة ذات الرقاع» قال البخاري: وهي غزوة محارب خصفة، من بني ثعلبة بن غطفان. هكذا في نسخة الأصيلي، عن أبي أحمد: محارب خصفة، من بني ثعلبة. وفي رواية أبي الحسن القابسي: خصفة بني ثعلبة، وكلا القولين وهم.والصواب: محارب خصفة وبني ثعلبة من غطفان، بواو العطف، وهم: بنو ثعلبة بن سعد بن ذبيان بن بغيض بن ريث بن غطفان.
