    وفي «باب إتيان اليهود إلى النبي ﷺ» قال البخاري: حدثنا أحمد أو محمد بن عبيد الله الغداني، قال لنا حماد بن أسامة، أنا أبو عميس، عن قيس بن مسلم، عن طارق بن شهاب، عن أبي موسى، عن النبي ﷺ في يوم عاشوراء. هكذا رويناه عن أبي علي ابن السكن، وأبي زيد، وأبي أحمد: «وأحمد أو محمد»، على الشك. وفي نسخة أبي ذر، عن أبي إسحاق المستملي، وأبي الهيثم: «حدثنا أحمد بن عبيد الله»، بلا شك. قال أبو علي: وهو الأشهر المحفوظ أنه أحمد، وإنما جاء هذا الشك في اسمه من قبل البخاري، وقد ذكره في «التاريخ» في باب أحمد، ولم يشك فيه، وذكر أباه -أيضاً- وقال: روى عنه ابنه أحمد، ولم يشك، وسيأتي هذا فيما بعد إن شاء الله تعالى.
