    يحيى بن أبي كثير ويحيى بن كثير رجلان. فالأول منهما الذي أبوه مكنيٌ: هو يحيى بن أبي كثير أبو نصر اليمامي، أحد الأئمة في الحديث، هو نظير الزهري. والثاني الذي أبوه غير مكني: هو يحيى بن كثير بن درهم أبو غسان العنبري مولاهم البصري، أصله من خراسان. روى له البخاري حديثاً عن محمد بن المثنى عنه عن أبي حفص بن العلاء أخي أبي عمرو بن العلاء.
