    ٢٩٨ - وأخوه أبو المعالي أسعد بن المسلم: سمع بدمشق الحافظ أبا القاسم بن عساكر وأبا الفهم بن أبي العجائز وأبا المعالي علي بن هبة الله بن خلدون وأبا المجد الفضل بن الحسين بن البانياسي وغيرهم، وبمصرالعلامة أبا محمد عبد الله بن بري المقدسي وبالإسكندرية القاضي أبا عبد الله محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن محمد الحضرمي، وحدث بدمشق ومصر. سمعت منه بدمشق. مولده في رابع ربيع الأول سنة "إحدى وستين وخمسمائة" بدمشق، وتوفي بها في الثامن من رجب سنة "ست وثلاثين وستمائة"، في ليلة الثلاثاء ودفن بسفح قاسيون.
