    ثناء الإمام أبي حفص الكبير قال مسند "بخارى" وفقيه المشرق، إمام الحنفية في "ما وراء النهر"، الإمام أبو حفص الكبير البخارى رحمه الله تعالى: من نظر إلى محمد عرف أنه خلق للعلم، ومع ذلك صلاح غالب، وحفظ اللسان، والسمت الحسن، والتودد، والخلق الجميل، وأدب النفس، والعقل الكامل. قال محمد بن سلام: أنفقت على كتبه عشرة آلاف درهم، ولو استقبلت من أمري ما استدبرت ما اشتغلت إلا بكتب الرجل الصالح محمد بن الحسن.
