    مفاخر علمية للملوك المسلمين في الهند ساد المسلمون الهندَ ثمانمائة سنة إلا خمسين عاما، فأول ملوكهم هو السلطان شهاب الدين غوري، الذي حكم "الهند"، وجعل عاصمة "الهند" بلدة "دهلي" سنة ٥٨٦ هـ، واستمرّ المسلمون يحكمون "الهند"، حتى غلب الإنكليزيون على "الهند" في أواخر القرن الخامس عشر المسيحي وبداية القرن الحادي عشر الهجري، وأقاموا فيها حكومتهم بعد نفي السلطان المغولي بهادرظفر الشاه من "الهند" سنة ١٢٧٤ هـ، وهنا انتهت حكومة المسلمين على "الهند". ويبلغ عدد السلاطين المسلمين الذي حكموا "الهند" في هذه المدّة الطويلة خمسة وستين ملكا، وامتاز عهد الاثنين منهم بأعمال علمية دينية، ومآثر جليلة (¬١). * * *
