١٦٦٥ - الشيخ الفاضل حمدان بن عثمان الخوجة، الجزائري * *.أديب من العاملين في الحركة. الوطنية بـ "الجزائر". ولد سنة ١١٨٧ هـ، وتعلّم بها. ولما أمضت حكومة الداي الجزائرية اتفاق تموز (١٨٣٠) مع الفرنسيين، نظم الجزائريون بزعامة صاحب الترجمة أول حزب وطني سياسي، عرف بلجنة المغاربة أو حزب المقاومة. وقارع الاستعمار الفرنسي بقلمه ولسانه. ونفاه الفرنسيون من "الجزائر"، فأقام مدّة بـ "فرنسة"، وسافر إلى "إستانبول"، فعمل مترجما في مطبعة الحكومة إلى أن توفي سنة ١٢٦١ هـ. له كتب، منها: "المرآة"، و"المذكرات"، و"حكمة العارف"، وترجم معظم إنتاجه إلى الفرنسية (¬١). * * *
