    ٩١٦ - الشيخ الفاضل إسماعيل بن علي بن عبيد الله الخطيبي * *. تفقّه على أبيه، وخرج معه إلى الحجّ، فمات أبوه بـ "الأبواء"، فتوجّه هو صحبة أبي العلاء صاعد بن محمد إلى "مكة"، ثم قدما من الحجّ إلى "بغداد"، وتردّد هو إلى قاضي القضاة أبي عبد الله الدامغاني. وولّى القضاء بـ "أصبهان" مرّتين، ثم قدم إلى "بغداد"، وحصل له بها القبول التامّ، وكان يحضر عنده أهل العلم من سائر الطوائف.وقتل شهيدًا، يوم الجمعة، بـ "جامع همدان"، سنة اثنتين وخمسمائة، سادس صفر الخير. * * *
