٦٤٥٨- عقيل بن مالك الحميري «٢» : من أبناء الملوك. كان جارا لبني حنيفة فثبّتهم على الإسلام أيام الردّة، فخالفوه، وقال فيهم، وكان صاحب لسان وبيان، فوعظهم ونهاهم عن الردة، وقال في ذلك شعرا منه: وقال رجال قد عدا القوم قدرهم ... عقيل، ولو أنصفت لم أعدكم قدري فلا تأمنوا الصّدّيق واللَّه غالب ... على أمره إنّ العتيق أبو بكر ثم لحق بخالد بن الوليد فشهد معه حروبه. ذكره وثني في «الردة» واستدركه ابن الدباغ «٣» .
