    هشام بن معدان، كاتب أبي يوسف القاضي. خرج إلى بلاد المغرب، وسكن إفريقية، ومات بها. أخبرنا العتيقي، قال: حدثنا علي بن عبد الرحمن بن أحمد بن يونس بن عبد الأعلى المصري، قَالَ: حدثني أبي، أبو سعيد، قَالَ: حدثني محمد بن موسى بن النعمان، قَالَ: حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن خشيش، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن عمران قال: سمعت هشام بن معدان قال: حضرت أبا العتاهية في مقبرة بغداد، وهو ينشد فقلت له: يا أبا العتاهية ما أشعر ما قلت؟ قال قولي [من مجزوء الكامل]: الناس في غفلاتهم ورحى المنية تطحن قال علي: قال أبي أبو سعيد: توفي هشام بن معدان بإفريقية سنة ثلاث عشرة ومائتين. ٧٣٤١ -
