علي بن سلمان أبو الحسن الشوكي ابن عم الحسين بن محمد الوني. حَدَّثَ عن القاضي أبي الحسن الجراحي. كتبت عنه في سنة عشر وأربعمِائَة. أخبرنا علي بن سلمان، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسن الجراحي إملاء، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن محمد البصري، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن جعفر الطبري، عن علي بن محمد الدمشقي، قال: كان رجل يتتبع شيل القراطيس من الأرض فيقول: باسم الله إكراما لوجه الله، فوجد في قرطاس أبيض مكتوبا، وأنت أكرم الله وجهك. قلت: كان هذا الشيخ قد سمع حديثا كثيرا، وذهب كتابه وعلق بحفظه هذه الحكاية، فلم يكن عنده، عن الجراحي، ولا عن غيره سواها.
