أحمد بن أبي طاهر أبو الفضل الكاتب، واسم أبي طاهر طيفور، وهو مروروذي الأصل. كان أحد البلغاء الشعراء الرواة، ومن أهل الفهم المذكورين بالعلم، وله كتاب بغداد المصنف في أخبار الخلفاء وأيامهم، وحدث عن عمر بن شبة، وأحمد بن الهيثم السامي، وعبد الله بن أبي سعد الوراق، وغيرهم. روى عنه ابنه عبيد الله، ومحمد بن خلف بن المرزبان، وذكر ابنه أنه مات في ليلة الأربعاء لأربع بقين من جمادى الأولى سنة ثمانين ومائتين، ودفن في مقابر باب الشام، وكان مولده ببغداد مدخل المأمون إليها من خراسان سنة أربع ومائتين. ٢١٧١ -
