١٢١٦ - عمر بن على بن أحمد الزنجاني، أبو حفص، الفقيه الشافعي (¬١): قدم بغداد وقرأ الفقه على القاضي أبى الطيب طاهر بن عبد الله الطبري، وقرأ الكلام على أبى جعفر أحمد بن محمد السمناني، وسمع منهما الحديث وسافر إلى الشام، وسمع بدمشق أبا نصر محمد بن أحمد بن طلاب، وكان فاضلا صنف كتابا سماه «المعتمد»، وحدث بدمشق وصور وعاد إلى بغداد وحدث بها، واستوطنها إلى حين وفاته. ذكر أبو الفضل بن خيرون أنه توفى في ليلة الثلاثاء ودفن يوم الثلاثاء من جمادى الأولى سنة تسع وخمسين وأربعمائة إلى جنب أبى العباس بن سريج باب درب مقبرة قريبا من الشونيزية.
