٩٩٧- عبد الرحمن بن أحمد بن خلف أبو أحمد الفقيه من أهل طليطلة، يعرف بابن الحوات، كان إماماً مختاراً يتكلم في الحديث والفقه والاعتقادات بالحجة القوية، قوي النظر، ذكي الذهن، سريع الجواب، بليغ اللسان، وله تواليف في ما يحقق به، وله من ذلك في الآداب والشعر بضاعة قوية وكان يقيم بالمرية ومن شعره: ولما غدوا بالغيد فوق جماله ... طفقت أنادي لا أطيق بهم همسا عسى عيس من أهوى تجود بوقفة ... ولو كوقوف العين لاحظت الشمسا فإن تلفت نفسي يعيد وداعهم ... بغير غريب ميتة في الهوى يأسا مات أبو أحمد بن الحوات قرباً من سنة خمسين وأربعمائة.
