٢٨٢- محمد بن مسعود أبو عبد الله بن أبي الخصال متقدم في اللغة والأدب والكتابة والخطابة والشعر، حدث وروى عن أبي بكر بن عطية، وأبي الحسن بن أحمد وغيرهما. روى عنه جماعة أعلامه منهم: القاضي أبو القاسم عبد الرحمن بن محمد وأبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الرحيم وأبو جعفر أحمد بن أحمد عرف بابن القصير وغيرهم. توفى سنة أربعين وخمسمائة مقتولاً، فمن شعره السائر قوله في مغن زار بعد ما أغب وشط منه المزار: وافى وقد عظمت على ذنوبه ... في غيبة قبحت به آثاره فمحا إساءته بها إحسانه ... واستغفرت لذنوبه أوتاره
