    مَعْمَر بن راشد البصري، سكن صنعاء، تفقه وسمع من همام بن منبه اليمني، والزهري، وهشام بن عروة، وارتحل إليه الثوري وابن عيينة وابن المبارك وغُنْدَر وهشام بن عروة بن يوسف قاضي صنعاء. وأخذ عنه عبد الرزاق فقيه اليمن وصنعاء، وله «الجامع» المشهور في السنن المنسوب إليه، وهو من الكتب القديمة في اليمن، وهو أقدم من «الموطأ». طلب معمر العلم سنة مات الحسن (¬١)، قال إبراهيم بن خالد المؤذن الصنعاني (¬٢): مات معمر بصنعاء في شهر رمضان سنة ثلاث وخمسين ومائة، وصَلّيْتُ عليه، وله ثمان وخمسون سنة. ومنهم:
