أبو الثريا نجم بن أبي الفرج بن سالم الكناني الشافعي، بمصر، ودفن من الغد بسفح المقطم. تفقه على مذهب الإمام الشافعي ﵁ وسمع من العلامة أبي محمد عبد الله ابن بري النحوي، وصحبه مدة. وسمع من أبي القبائل عشير بن علي المزارع، وأبي الشجاع فارس بن تركي الضرير المقرئ، وغيرهم. وتصدر بالجامع العتيق بمصر مدة، وأعاد بالمدرسة السيفية بالقاهرة. وجمع مجاميع في الفقه وغيره. وحدث. سمعت منه، وسألته عن مولده فذكر ما يدل على أنه ولد سنة تسع وخمسين وخمس مئة. وكان شيخا حسنا من أهل الخير والعفاف.٢٧٠٧ - وفي الثامن من شهر ربيع الأول توفي الشريف الأجل
