أبو الثناء محمود بن علي بن محمود ابن قرقين، بمدينة بصرى. سمع من الإمام أبي سعد عبد الله بن محمد بن أبي عصرون الشافعي، وغيره. وحدث. وبصرى: من أعمال دمشق، وهي قصبة حوران نسب إليها غير واحد. وبصرى أيضا: قرية من قرى بغداد قريبة من عكبرا نسب إليها أبو الحسن محمد بن محمد البصروي الشاعر المشهور. وقرقين: بفتح القاف وسكون الراء المهملة وبعدها قاف مكسورة وياء آخر الحروف ساكنة ونون.٢٦١٦ - وفي ليلة الثالث من ذي القعدة توفي الشيخ الأجل الأصيل
