أبو العباس ثعلب بن عبد الله بن عبد الواحد الشافعي الخطيب العدل المنعوت بالرضى، ⦗٣٧٧⦘ بالقاهرة ودفن من الغد بسفح المقطم. تفقه على مذهب الإمام الشافعي ﵁ على شيخنا شيخ الشيوخ أبي الحسن ابن حمويه، وسمع معنا منه، وشهد عند قاضي القضاة أبي القاسم عبد الرحمان بن عبد العلي الشافعي، وولي الحكم بجيزة فسطاط مصر وأعمالها، والخطابة بالجامع المجاور لضريح الإمام الشافعي ﵁ وما علمته حدث بشيء. وثعلب: بثاء مثلثة وعين مهملة ساكنة وبعد اللام باء بواحدة.٢٥٦٢ - وفي ذي الحجة توفي الملك المفضل
