أبو المجد خزعل بن عسكر بن خليل الشنائي المقرئ النحوي اللغوي، بدمشق، ⦗١٨٥⦘ ودفن من الغد بباب الصغير. حدث بشيء من شعره. وكان يذكر أنه سمع من الحافظ أبي طاهر أحمد بن محمد الأصبهاني، وأنه دخل بغداد وقرأ على الكمال أبي البركات عبد الرحمان بن محمد الأنباري أكثر تصانيفه، وعند عوده من بغداد قطع عليه الطريق وأخذ ما كان معه من الكتب. أقرأ القرآن الكريم بالبيت المقدس مدة ثم تحول إلى دمشق وسكنها إلى أن مات. ولنا منه إجازة، كتب بها إلينا غير مرة منها ما هو في جمادى الآخرة سنة ثمان وست مئة.٢١١٥ - وفي ليلة السابع والعشرين من رجب توفي الشيخ الصالح
